Tommy Lee Jones is attractive

Can you fix a tangled slinky with tape? Nope. Well, my two year old thinks so. Of course my initial reaction to his idea was "Oh, how tender!" The innocence of it all. I knew it wouldn't work but the funny thing was that after he had put the tape on the slinky, he was happy about it. Now, as adults we do a lot of really stupid things. Like, if we are mad at someone we will talk to everyone but them about it. Or, if we are in serious debt we still go to Walmart or Target and justify buying a whole bunch of stuff that we don't need and we'll say to ourselves, "At least I'm not shopping at the mall". Or, we're on a diet and we've decided to only eat healthy salads for lunch but suddenly we look at our plate and there are a dozen or so thick, white dollops of Ranch dressing on top. The list goes on and on. One of the stupidest things I've done was tell myself that I was ugly all my teenage life. That really is stupid and it is such a shame that I wasn't able to see it before. The point wasn't whether or not I was ugly. The point was,"Is it really that bad to be ugly?". The answer is no. It is not a bad thing to be ugly. In fact, I fortunately have the power in me to be able to convert physical unattractivity into beautiful qualities. For example, I find Tommy Lee Jones attractive. Don't ask me why. My husband always makes fun of me for thinking that, but I don't care. (I chose against posting the picture of him in a speedo for all you readers.)
The real point of my post is to remind myself to look at my problems and solve them correctly instead of doing stupid things. The sad thing is that most people repeat their mistakes over and over again. Especially if they are adults. All of us parents wait impatiently as our children toddle along making mistakes or breaking things each day. The truth is that they are progressing and learning new skills daily. Are we? Or are we stuck in a rut repeating the same processes every time something new is thrown at us?
