I'm famous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And not for a good reason either. I'd heard about this lady before, but today on the bus I saw a man reading a newspaper and one of the articles included my name "Christine McCallum". OK, well, it's not really my name. But by one letter it would be. I'm sort of embarrassed because my name is not that common, so I know that when people read about her they think "Oh, that's my sister's name, or that was one of my students years ago, I remember her" If you don't know what this lady did, you can read about it, but prepare to be disgusted. All you have to do is type in the name and you'll get all the info.

Um, so I guess you are glad you're not famous? That's a little funny. Any idea yet when you are coming to Utah? May? June? We can't wait.

Eeeeew. Just Googled.

Oh, July is so long... We were trying to talk Isaiah into waiting for his baptism until May or June, you could join in the fun. He should probably have to go through a year long prep class to be eligible anyway.

Oh Tara, I'm sure to every other parent Isaiah is a wonderful and smart boy. I guess as parents we have trouble seeing how good our own children can be when we're not around. Sorry about the wait. I'm not sure we can pull May or June off. I really want to be there. I'll know more about travel plans soon. But his birthday is in a month and a half. Aaaaaahhhh!

Sadly, the parents around here are not quite as kind as you are... But someday they'll see. :-) Remember in Math 13 after the parables of the seeds and tares, and whatever... It says Jesus' message was well received and the people rejoiced in it, but when he went to his home country to give the same messages, the people were like... Who does this man think he is? Ok, I'm not good at paraphrasing, why don't I just quote: "...they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary?..." I guess what I'm trying to say is- I take comfort from this, because even Jesus was not received well in his own country where he grew up. It must be easy for us all to judge those around us, because even Jesus was judged by his neighbors.
Was that a long enough comment?

Just taught a lesson on Sunday about making our names be a word that other people think good things about. This is a fine example. :)

And jsut to nose in on a conversation that I know next to nothing about (Taranani's comment above), I just have to say, boys really are boys. It's still shocking to me at how many people do NOT get that. The best advice I ever heard came from a mom of four boys (and two girls) who said she learned early on to ask herself, "Does it REALLY matter?" Meaning, if it is not SIN, don't freak out - they grow out of it, they learn from it, and they end up with a lot more happy memories. :) And if whatever they're doing is leading down the wrong road, remember it's not something defective in them. They just need a little hand and little teaching and a little love to know that they are really better than their behavior at the moment. The same woman who gave me this advice had a boy who was a TERRIBLE disruption in Primary - so much so that they asked her, his mother, to teach him in his own private Primary class on Sunday because no one could deal with him. He has since served a mission, married in the temple, fulfilled lots of callings and is currently a stake president. It all comes out in the wash. Boys are boys. There is so much good and power in their boundless energy and you are their mom for a reason! Don't despair!!!

(Remind me of this all next week when I am feeling like either I or one of the children MUST GO. :))

This Christine Mccollum is such a bad teacher….but you are right, people would think that it was you, because that is not a common name. If somebody asks, you about that just say what you always say…Heloooooo! I’m a good Christine McCollum, that one is the generic version.
