Guess what came home in my son's backpack?

I'm sure many of you with children have already or are currently going through separation anxiety. Not the kind where your child won't leave your side, but the kind where you can see your child slipping away slowly from your constant hovering and smothering love. Well, Atticus came home yesterday with a surprise in his backpack. His friend's phone number! And she's a girl. Here I go, acting like my parents probably did when I was a kid.

Well, the idea that a cute little Turkish girl from Atticus' class sent her phone number home with Atticus started me thinking about how I'm going to react when my sons start to date. Of course I'll have trouble seeing my sons slip away, but I hope I can be open to the girls they choose. I also hope I can raise my boys to be good men. For now, its not hard to accept the cute little girls in Atticus' class.

Oh Christine! She is cute. Of course, it's not hard to see why she would want to be friends with Atticus.

I worry about the dating years too. It's going to be so weird. And scary. Those young, fresh emotions are so very strong. All we can do is to teach them the best we can now, right?

Of course right. :)

If you're lucky- Atticus will be like Isaiah, and tease the girls too much for them to want to be friends with him. :-)

I know how you feel, my little girl has a crush on a boy that doesn't know she exists (or so I gather, I can't believe that's true). She walks around heart broken sometimes, I just want her to stay innocent. :0(

Hey Christine sorry I haven't kept in contact very much. Been busy and sick.

Where oh where are you? If you don't post for a while I get worried. Is everything OK?

Those little Turkish girls are forward aren't they? :) (He, he, he) She is adorable. Maybe arrange a marriage? Then you can skip all the dating. That's my husband's answer. Heh. If only it were that easy and we weren't so...western.

Spain?!?!?!?! I'm super jealous.
