Hidden treasures

What is that thing in his right nostril? Any guesses? Any experienced mothers out there? Tell me, how many times have your children stuck things in their noses, ears, eyes, mouths? This is a first for me. I have three boys and my first son has never had this happen to him. I guess I was such a hoverer that it never was allowed to happen. But you know how neglect falls upon a second and middle child. Poor Shermy! Oh, how I love him! Guess how I got that thing out? I hugged him so tight that it popped right out! Just kidding. I extracted it with tweezers. Just the thing I love to do. Ha! Anyway, I was shocked that it was a googly eye of all things. "How could I be so negligent! My house is spotless! I must have missed a spot somewhere." Those of you
who have been to my house know that it if far from spotless. And those of you who thought my house was spotless back in the States will be sad to know that any level of spotlessness in the States is quite blemished compared to the average turkish home. These people are the cleanest people I've ever lived among. The only thing that is unclean about them are their lungs. To finish off the story, I asked Shermy "Where did you get this?" like the conversation a parent has with their teen when they find drugs in their closet. "Asli gave it to me" he said honestly. I hope that when my kids are teenagers and I do find something questionable in thier closets I hope I can just stay calm. I think that making time to run and get the camera before actually extracting the eye constitutes a low stress level. Don't you think?

I remember when my brother stuck a green M&M up his nose, got upset, started crying, and green ooze started coming out of said nostril. I still crack up when I think about it.

How about a Twilight date on a Saturday? That is probably the only day I could manage it.

Don't you love extractions. Removing things that are lodged in the wrong place can be very rewarding. Happy New Year! we miss you all. And it sucks you wouldn't speak to us on the phone the other day :)

Do you want to do a MSN messenger or Skype video call sometime?

LOved the post! I had put an eraser from a pencil in my nose. I was scared cuz I couldn't get it out and I thought I would get a good whooping! So I didn't tell anyone. It sat there for who knows how long. My nose started to stink and redness and swelling around my nose. My mom was worried and took me to the DR. He pulled it out with tweezers and it hurt so bad that I slapped him across the face. Crazy!

Oh Christine!! LOL! My mom told me about this post but I am so far behind on blog reading that I just got to it. Do I have a story for you!

My Andrew (now 10) stuck a chunk of styrofoam packing peanut up his nose when he was about 3-1/2. I got a little bit of it out with tweezers but wouldn't let me get the rest! I had to wake up Ricky and haul them both with me to my mom's to drop Ricky off, and then I took Andrew to the emergency room. The doctor got the thing out very quickly, but the funniest thing about the whole experience that we met another patient in the waiting room, a little girl a little older than Andrew... Who was there because she'd stuck a Barbie shoe in her ear! Haha!! Guess these things come in 2s, or 3s? She was lucky because her dad was able to get the thing out before she had to see the doctor. ;)

Anyway... You have now completed one of those milestones of motherhood that we all have to go through. Well, hopefully not all of us. :D
