Grumpy complainer

"So, the great test of life is to see whether we will hearken to and obey God’s commands in the midst of the storms of life. It is not to endure storms, but to choose the right while they rage."
Henry B. Eyring

I love this quote. Whenever I think of some disaster striking I immediately think of whether or not I have enough food and water. But what I really need is to be prepared with a spiritual reserve so I can be able to comfort others during the crisis. It's no fun being hungry and having to listen to someone complain. I definitely don't want to be that person, but I feel like I always am and my poor husband is the one that always has to listen to me. I know, it sounds like I'm on my way to a new years resolution already. One thing I really need to work on is just keeping my mouth shut. That lame sounding quote , "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all," is so true. You know, just because something is true doesn't always mean you will heed it. Everyone knows smoking can give you lung cancer but do they stop? I know candy rots my teeth out but I still eat it. So how am I going to get myself to shut up when things go wrong in my life. Yeah, I know I shouldn't say negative things and complain all the time, but honestly sometimes I feel a relieving release when I say what I'm itching to say. Then, seconds after, I feel like crap and sometimes I have to apologize, or fix things or whatever I screwed up. I don't know what I'll do to remedy my weakness for complaining. For me, sometimes a paper on the wall is enough. "Today I will only complain in a three minute window at 6 PM" and include some empty boxes to draw happy faces in when I succeed.
So I guess to be prepared for all those storms, I need to temper my tongue a little. Maybe I should memorize a poem that I'll have to recite when I screw up. Anybody know any good ones? Short ones?
