You know those chase scenes in action movies where they are running through the city and the pursued flies into the subway just as the door is closing and the pursuer watches from the other side of the glass windows as their target moves away. That was us today. We had to go on the subway for part of our journey to church. So we went down all the escalators and were waiting for the subway to come. It did and so me and the two older kids got in. Jonathan, with Cinci on his back, was trying to get some snacks from the vending machine. It had taken his money so he was just trying to get anything because it wouldn't give him what he had originally selected. I was going to take the boys back out so we could wait for the next train all together. Jonathan was lagging. I moved towards the door to exit. I heard the three toned warning that the doors were about to close. Jonathan came running, the doors began to close and he slid through but the Kelty kid carrier got stuck in the closing doors. It was literally like a scene from a movie. Half of my baby was stuck outside the subway train! I pulled at the doors as hard as I could to get them to move just enough to pull Cinci through. Turks were freaking out all around me but it was all a blur. Time slowed down as my fingertips struggled with the rubber sealings of the doors. Cinci started to cry because he was sleeping before all this drama began. Fortunately, if any of the doors are open in the subway train, it cannot continue. I was hoping that was the case. It was! The doors suddenely loosened their grip and my baby was free. Poor little innocent thing. He promptly fell back asleep. For the next three or four minutes we endured the judging stares of everybody in the train. I wasn't crying or freaking out. In fact I was kind of laughing at the situation. It seemed almost unreal. I realize the gravity of what could have happened, but that didn't happen. Am I still required to freak out if the worst didn't occur?
