Kartal

We are moving to Kartal today. Moving twice in a month isn't fun for me. The house is all packed up and I am waiting. . . . waiting. . . .waiting. . . .and waiting for the people, whoever they are, to come and move us. The kids are watching "Il drago della foresta" on TV. It's some italian cartoon that has Atticus mesmerized. He obviously doesn't care about the dialogue of what he watches. He reminds me of me, sort of. A month or so ago Jonathan and I went on a date. We were going to see the new Indiana Jones movie. Since our lives are pretty void of any exciting media; movies, TV, music, literature, we were pretty excited. We bought all our snacks at a nearby grocery store and were ready to be zombified. But after the car race in Nevada they started talking and it was all in Turkish. Jonathan and I looked at eachother with disappointment. Should we just watch the movie, or try to get a refund or see a different movie? Jonathan was mad that the ticket lady sold him a ticket to the Turkish version. "Couldn't she tell that I was a foreigner?" he fumed. I was optimistic however. How hard could it be to understand an action adventure film in Turkish? So we stayed. I was asleep in 15 minutes. When I awoke midway through the film we decided to leave. Jonathan tried his luck at getting a refund. He was successful. So for the next date two weeks later we saw the film in English. Not the best film but it was good enough. Good enough meaning making me feel for an hour or so that I am free, childless, and living another life. I like feeling that way every once in a while.
